Common Hand Tools to Assist Daily Operation or Repair Needs

Hand tools can be divided into wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, tape measures, hammers, sockets, cuttings, scissors, sets, and auxiliary tools such as tool carts, etc., each category is different 's model.
1. Wrench
  • Purpose: A wrench is a tool for rotating bolts or nuts. Used to turn bolts, nuts and other objects that are difficult to turn by hand.
  • Usage: Pulling force should be used to turn the wrench. Pushing and turning the wrench is prone to danger.
  • Types: Open-end wrench, Torx wrench, adjustable wrench, socket wrench, hexagon wrench, torque wrench.
  • Maintainance:
  1. After use, it should be cleaned first, and then refueled to prevent rust.
  2. The wrench cannot be used as a hand hammer.
  3. When the wrench is used, the handle of the wrench shall not be equipped with a sleeve to increase the torque.

2. Pliers
  • Uses: Using the principle of leverage, applying a small force to obtain the maximum effect, it is used to fix, clamp the work, or cut the light work. Most are used to hold objects securely, or to cut and bend tough materials such as wires.
  • Type:
  1. Wire cutters: Square nose pliers.
  2. Carp pliers: It is a combination pliers, commonly known as carp pliers because its pliers are like fish heads.
  3. Diagonal pliers: The notch is beveled. Generally used for automotive electrical work.
  4. Needle-nose pliers: Can be used to strip wire insulation.
  5. Wrench pliers: Commonly used to temporarily fix work and remove damaged nuts.

3. Hand hammer
  • Uses: Also known as hammer, used for hammering the working surface. Straightening, chiseling, repairing, and loading and unloading parts must be done with a hammer.
  • Type: Steel hammer, plastic hammer, rubber hammer, wooden hammer.
  • Precautions:
  1. Do not use a hand hammer with a loose handle to prevent the hammer head from flying out and hurting people when hammering.
  2. When striking, the surface of the hammer head should be in parallel contact with the struck surface.
  3. To keep the impacted surface smooth, a soft-tipped hammer, such as a plastic hammer, a copper hammer or a wooden mallet, should be used.

4. Chisel
  • Uses: Chisel out rivets, cut thin metal sheets, etc. Usually used with a mallet to carve or dig hard materials such as wood, rock, and metal.
  • Note: If the chisel has been ground into a mushroom shape, it should be ground before use to avoid cracking and hurting people.

5. Hand saw
  • Uses: Hand tools for cutting, with cross-cutting and longitudinal-cutting functions, are one of the commonly used tools for woodworking on construction sites.
  • Specifications: How many teeth per inch, such as 24T means 24 teeth per inch.
  • Precautions:
  1. When installing the saw blade, the tip of the saw blade should face forward, push it forward with force, and pull it back gently when pulling it back.
  2. Selection of saw blade: 14 teeth for sawing soft metals such as aluminum, and 32 teeth for hard metals such as hard steel.

6. Screwdriver
  • Application: Used to tighten and loosen screws.
  • Specifications: The size specification is expressed by the length of the front end of the handle and the width of the blade, such as 50X5.5 mm.
  • Principles of use:
  1. The screwdriver is used for tightening the screws, not as a chisel or pry bar.
  2. The blade of the screwdriver should match the size of the bolt head.
  3. The screwdriver should be kept straight to avoid damage to the parts.
  • Type: flat screwdriver, cross screwdriver, impact screwdriver.
